How to Make Gluten Free Puppy Chow (Muddy Buddies Recipe)
Welcome to the Gluten Beestro, folks! I'm Sam Burke, and today, we're diving into a deliciously fun recipe for gluten-free Puppy Chow, also known as Muddy Buddies! This snack is my personal favorite for movie nights, and I guarantee it will become yours too. Let's get started!
Ingredients You'll Need
- 6 Cups Rice Chex (about 1 box)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions to Create Your Puppy Chow
-
In a large pot, combine your peanut butter, chocolate chips, and vanilla extract.
-
Place the pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir continuously until everything is melted and well combined. Keep a close eye on it to avoid burning!
-
Once melted, remove the pot from heat and gradually add in your Rice Chex. Stir gently to coat each piece of cereal evenly, ensuring no Chex gets crushed. Work quickly, as the chocolate mixture begins to harden fast!
-
After everything is well mixed, grab a gallon-sized Ziploc bag and pour in some powdered sugar to coat the interior.
-
Next, add about a fourth of your chocolate-covered Chex mix into the bag. Seal it up and give it a good shake until everything is evenly coated with powdered sugar!
-
Continue adding the remaining Chex mix, shaking after each addition until it’s all coated to perfection.
